Recently, we talked about the significant savings possible just by knowing the competitive costs of a nearby imaging center.
In some cases, you or a loved one will need urgent care—most likely in a hospital. But what about all the times when a primary care doctor or specialist advises "Go to XYZ Imaging..." or refers you there from his office? To become more educated, thrifty, and smarter-shopping Healthcare consumers capable of safeguarding our health AND our finances, we will all need to develop and utilize resources—like DOC$—to better know in advance where the deals, as well as the healthcare cost landmines are located.
To that end, DOC$ will soon be reaching out to price-leading providers of frequently-billed medical services. First in a few limited "test markets," then across most US metropolitan areas. We will invite these providers to inform consumers—right on our platform—how they can provide needed, physician-requested services at the best possible rates.
If you know of such a provider, that you've used, liked, and would visit again if the need should arise, please tell us about them in the comments, or on our LinkedIn post.
Below is a link to an article from NPR journalist Alison Kodjak about a Ft. Myers, FL financial adviser who literally stumbled into the knowledge that the same test—in this case, an abdominal CT Scan—from the same machine, can vary WILDLY in billed cost to a patient.
