The Docx! Mission:

The Docx! mission is to bring the competitive free market to the Healthcare Industry by allowing consumers-for the very first time-to share pricing informaton.

Key facts about the Healthcare consumer experience:

  • In the PAST, consumers didn't care so much about the cost of medical care
    • Insurance programs covered from "80/20" to "all" after nominal copays and modest deductibles
    • The "$15 co-pay" and little or no bill were most common
    • The "Office visit" encompassed most in-office services (tests, injections, minor procedures, etc.)

  • NOW, things are very different. But consumers are conditioned: we are STILL not asking what our Healthcare will cost in advance
    • Premiums have skyrocketed. Look at your paystubs!
    • Co-pays are more than annoying. $25 or more for primary; $50 and higher for "specialists" like ENT, Ob/Gyn, Gastro, Derma, Ortho
    • Deductibles are ENORMOUS--$9,000 and over PER PATIENT are VERY common
      • Consumers come home from a fairly routine "specialist" treatment to bills in the $ hundreds or $ thousands for minor procedures and tests (CT Scan)
      • Chronic treatment can cost many thousands of $ and inflate dramatically between treatments
      • Most consumers agree to these treatments NEVER HAVING ASKED about the cost in advance, still thinking "I've got insurance"

  • The ACA, or "Obamacare" forces insurance companies to pay out 85% of premiums for "care benefits"
    • 15% for TOTAL insurance company business expenses (facilities, employees, billing, claims processing, etc.) and profit
    • For insurance companies to survive, and GROW, the 15% has to become an ever-larger $ amount
    • Approving EVER-inflating provider reimbursements is the HIGHEST priority for insurance companies

  • Traditionally "non-covered" procedures (i.e; "Lasik") are very high quality AND highly competitive
    • When consumers KNOW IN ADVANCE they'll have to spend their household budget $$, predictable conditions exist:
      • Advertising
      • Many providers in the market
      • Value-low prices, discounts, incentives
      • "Customer" reviews to POLICE the market and enhance competition

  • The Healthcare Industry has a "roadmap" for competition: "Billing Codes" (i.e; "99203: Office Visit-Established Patient")
    • The American Medical Association, or "AMA" calls these codes "proprietary" and "copyrighted"
    • Insurance companies' reports (The insurance company "Explanation of Benefits" or EOB) don't always tell you the "Code"
    • Medical Providers often don't tell consumers the "Code" on their bills

  • Armed with INFORMATION, Healthcare Consumers could:
    • Shop for services like MRIs, CT Scans, "PT"(Physical Therapy)
    • Ask their Provider or Insurance company "What's the Code for this?"
    • Look on Docx! to see what their neighbors are paying
    • Tell their Providers where they want to go for competitive procedures and tests
    • Compare and question HOSPITAL prices and services
    • Demand services "MENUS" from hospitals, surgery centers, and other "specialist" Providers

In short, the mission of Docx! is to illuminate all of the above, and to provide consumers with COMPETITIVE Healthcare pricing information—all while PROTECTING Healthcare Consumers' privacy through the use of fictional usernames, website security features (NEVER any Soc. Sec. #s, credit cards or other sensitive info), and NEVER any sales or marketing of individual user identity information/profiles.
